Bored with your usual, day-to-day look? An easy way to change your style is with the magic of modern makeup. Using the right makeup tips and tricks, you can effortlessly and inexpensively transform your face and quite possibly your whole image!
Begin with a clean, fresh face. Just like an artist, you need to begin with a blank canvas. You also want to begin with a smooth, clean complexion, free of any dark patches, red spots or other blemishes. Pick a shade that is close to your natural skin tone and apply using a synthetic sponge for maximum results. Make sure to dab the foundation on softly, and blend it downward and outward across the whole face. Flip the sponge over to remove excess foundation. Remember to steer clear of the neck and chin areas that do not need to receive any foundation. And blend thoroughly along the jawline and hairline to avoid the ill-favored “makeup mask” look.
Next, choose a concealer about one or two shades lighter than the foundation you chose, because a shade too light will reveal dark patches. Concealer is a wonderful way to target certain areas and ensure a flawless finish. Start by applying it in a small arc underneath your eyes – your eyelids, too, if you find that they are a little dark or discolored. A criss-cross shape formed on any red spots will help to alleviate the unsightliness of the area. Blemishes can be concealed by dabbing concealer on top of, not around, the blemish. To blend the concealer, use a dabbing or tabbing motion. If you use a side-to-side motion you will only take off the concealer, not blend it. Apply a light layer of powder by dusting it across your entire face to minimize shine. Feel free to re-apply powder throughout the day as a quick touch-up instead of re-applying concealer. For some extra color and sexiness, apply blush in a downward stroke across the cheekbone.
Next, focus on those beautiful eyes. Draw attention to them with the use of an eyelash curler, followed by a coat of mascara. Make sure to use an upward sweeping stroke to coat the upper lashes. For a breathtaking look, apply some eyeshadow. Keep in mind that the lightest color should cover almost the entire eyelid and a darker color should be used in the crease of the eyelid to add depth. But when it comes to eyeshadow, there are tons of gorgeous combinations that you can try! Experimenting with eyeshadow can be the most exciting part of completing a makeup look. After eyeshadow, consider adding eyeliner. From pencil to liquid liners, you are sure to find an eyeliner that you can work with and that looks great on you. Just be warned that using liquid liners requires a lot of patience and practice. Draw the line as close to your natural lashline as possible and follow your natural eye shape. The bigger the eye – the bigger the line. And if you wear contact lenses, apply your eyeliner only after you have inserted your lenses.
Lastly, you’ll want to concentrate on creating your perfect pout. For lots of color, line your lips with lipliner, staying as close to the natural shape of your lips as possible. Lipstick can then be applied using a lip brush, especially if you have a small mouth that might be too tiny for a tube of lipstick. Not into color on your lips? Opt for a chapstick or gloss instead. Your lips will still look natural, but soft, sexy and shiny, too.
Achieving a sexy look with makeup is simple once you got the basics down. Now that you’ve mastered these simple makeup tips and tricks, you can perfect your technique over time and always put your best face forward.
