Don’t be fooled by the websites that promise to bring traffic to your website for a costly fee. Gaining website traffic doesn’t have to be expensive. It may take a little time and effort, but there are many ways to increase your traffic for free.

Knowing your target audience is a good place to start. It is important to learn what people are searching for so that your web contents will match their needs. Research what key words or phrases are being searched and be liberal in using these in the headings and articles on your site. Be sure to keep your website up to date. Always strive to provide current information that is useful to your readers.

Make good use of other websites by adding reprint directories that include links to your site. This will put you in a good position for other website owners to select your articles as they review these reprint articles in an effort to find information for their own sites. When they choose your articles they will be automatically linking their readers to your site which is a sure way to increase your website’s traffic.

Making good use of blogs is also important. Be sure to provide links to intriguing information that you provide on your site. Use your blog to inform readers when you have updated information or added new articles that may be of interest to them. This will help your readers to get to know your site and will encourage them to visit repeatedly. Don’t forget to include your link to make visiting your site as easy as one click.

Networking is another tool that is a free way to increase traffic to your site. Using forums or message boards is a great way to advertise your site and reach new customers. Some browsers may view your message and recommend your site to others. When you post information make good use of the signature line for advertising. As always, it is important to provide a direct link to your site.

Having a newsletter or ezine that you send to your mailing list on a weekly or monthly basis will also help you increase traffic. You can include information on any updates you have made to your site as well as links to articles and other pages your readers will find helpful.

Advertising for others will also draw viewers to you. Tell your viewers about a new e-book or e-course, or inform them of a special report that will provide them with useful information. If by way of your website they find information that is helpful to them they will develop a trust for your recommendations and will turn to your site again for direction.

If you have an informational or tangible product for sale, you may want to consider establishing an affiliate program. The more affiliates that you have promoting your product, the more traffic that will come to your site.
